Weekend road trip with frustrating end

I was in Utah a few weeks ago up near Cedar Breaks Nat Mon. I had pulled off the highway for a photo-op and dropped my bike. It went over gently on the right, with no damage, but it was laying downhill. There was no way I was going to get that 900 pound beast back up, and I probably would have just laid it over on the left side. I was in plain view of the road. Several vehicles passed by, then a group of bikers going the opposite way. Nobody stopped. Then after a few minutes, a red Dodge Ram pulled in and 4 guys helped me lift her back up.

I'm glad your brother wasn't seriously injured.

I had been watching my mirrors as we climbed and wound through the curves but he's not a rookie either so I am not keeping tabs for that just to be sure that we are together. I just got into a groove and those twisty's were going like magic. I expected him to be right behind me with in a few moments when I slowed at the top. He's actually pissed at him self for such a rookie mistake and for ruining the whole trip. I told him that I prefer that he be able to walk away from it than be carried out in a bag and that I really didn't want to be the one to have to tell his wife.

I understand your angst. While I was on a contract in Saudi Arabia I learned that drivers there WILL NOT stop at an accident scene because they have no Good Samaritan laws there. If you stop and render aide, of any type and if the victim dies you can and will be charged with the victims death (murder)! Luckily we are not so archaic but yes we as human beings should help one another out. I most certainly will. I always carry a first aid kit in my car.

I'm glad your bro was ok. Girlfriend of mine that just wrecked a few weeks ago was the last of the pack but she was lucky that the first cager that came up on her stopped and called 911. There are only a few that will stop.

Males me glad I live in rural Canada where most people still stop to help someone out. Me, for the most part i will not stop for a cager but I will stop for a biker regardless of wheter I am on the bike or in the cage. Reminds me I must learn the standard "Good Samaritan" speech.

Called witness apathy i think... Assh0les if you ask me. Same thing happened to the wife and i several years ago...finally a biker stopped.

Sorry to hear about the wreck. I lucked out last year when I wrecked my bike. The people in Denver were very helpful, stopped to check on me and call 911 (broke my leg in several places). I even had a nurse who happened to be on her way to work (at the hospital I would be spending the next 2 1/2 weeks in).

Well, not to Hi-jack thread..but it screams the question: what do you pack in your saddlebags? First aid kit is at the 2nd rung of the heap. 1st rung? Knowing how to use it.

Good point. I don't always stop. I used to but now days everybody has cell phones so usually its just a "Need any help?" "Naw, got triple A coming" but it still doesn't hurt to stop. Car or Bike.

Lots of times its a lady or an elderly man that can't change a tire. I'd hate to have my wife or mom on the side of the road. Lots of nuts out there so I stop and check anyway.
