finally ENGAGED!!

I have 5 months until my wedding, and I am too afraid to ask my father to help with some finances. I have 10 days to put down half for my venue (a beach house for 7 days, where I will marry & have reception and spend my honeymoon). My mom and aunt have already offered to help with that, but my dad hasn't offered anything. He and I have had a rocky relationship through my teen years and about 4 years ago we started establishing a closer relationship. I can talk to him about anything, but unfortunately I can't ask. I'm too afraid of rejection, not b/c of the money but b/c I'm afraid he will feel I'm not worth it or be upset with me for asking. My wedding is not going to be extravagant by any means but I can't afford it myself. How should I go about asking for his help? Should I wait for him to offer?
