Webcomics you'd love to see animated.

Self explanatory.

Anyway, who wouldn't love to see The Adventures of Dr. McNinja done by the same people who made Venture Bros. (hell, the old coloring artist was a member of its staff)? Really, a series based on it would be perfect in a prime time slot, as long as they don't do anything stupid like try to ramp up the "adult content" like that Dilbert toon.

And Lackadaisy deserves nothing less than a feature film. I can not look at Tracy's art without picturing how it would look fully animated. Only problem is that there isn't enough there yet to really tell what the story would be?

Anyone else?

After reading the entire archives of it (up to today) not long ago, I'd have to give a vote for "Kevin & Kell". I like the concept behind it and the great cast of characters too. It would be neat to see it get made into a animated series (even if it's just one season) or at least a single special; or maybe a feature film. (if Over the Hedge can get made into a movie, why not this?) but I ain't holdin' my breath.

I'd vote for Sinfest, Gene Catlow and Triggerstar (the latter especially could only air on Adult Swim). Sinfest is a terrifically funny and surprisingly touching strip (has kickbutt art too), Gene Catlow is perhaps the most intelligent funny animal comic ever created, and Triggerstar is the best medieval hero parody since Groo (if a whole lot raunchier). Penny Arcade might make a good animated series too. Since it's involved with video games, I think it'd pull a decent audience.

I agree with Adventures of Dr. McNinja.

Also off the top of my head Least I Could Do, Looking For Group and ErfWorld would be amazing animated and the guys at Least I Could Do/Looking for Group/Blind Ferret Entertainment are already trying to get to that point.

"The Rainbow Orchid". Granted, I'm not sure if it counts as a pure webcomic any more since it's now being published by Egmont and what's left on the site is just a preview, but still an excellent comic filled with a great storyline and interesting characters.

What else? Let's see, "Lackadaisy Cats" is pretty much the best funny animal comic on the web and deserves to be animated. "Tozo the Public Servant" is another great adventure-comic, set in an interesting and original world, highly recommended and the clear-line style would lend itself well to the realm of animation.

Oh, and "Dr. McNinja", but that one's already been mentioned.

Lackadaisy needs to be animated, if only so Rocky Rickaby will finally have a voice.

"You want I should go have words with him? Are you sure? I have a lot of them. I've been waiting for a chance to use 'begrumpled haggersnash' all day..."

Freckle'd also be fun to cast. How many VAs can you think of who can deliver both the adorable cuteness of Calvin McMurray and his trademark demoniacal laugh whenever he gets his hands on a gun?

And yeah, Dr. McNinja. :3

+1 and 2 other webcomics I'd like to see animated are "Sluggy Freelance" and "User Friendly". The earlier strips of Sluggy Freelance are the more easier to adapt before the webcomic take some long story arcs. "User Friendly" is a sort of Peanuts with technicians.

"Dandy and Company" would be awesome animated. It already has an art style down that would translate well into animation, and they do have long storylines and continuity, so why not?

I'd vote for The Dreamland Chronicles. It has the perfect fantasy-based premise that can translate well to another medium, an engaging story, and great characters. Not to mention that it's done in glorious-looking CGI, so the designs are already set for animation.

Ugh. No thank you.

User Friendly is one of the most disliked webcomics on the Internet for its hideous artwork (which hasn't improved in the 12 years since it started), stereotypical characters, and exhausted gags. Professional cartoonists prefer to keep it erased from their memories, and the author was caught earlier this year for plagiarism for using quotes from the website MetaFilter, and even The Far Side.

Sorry, but this comic is not worth translating into animation.

I wasn't going to comment on others' choices, but since you already shot first...

Glorious-looking CGI? Frankly, I find the characters to stand a little too close to the Uncanny Valley. They're clearly stylized, but things like the individual teeth and heavily defined lips are pretty jarring. To be honest, I wish it were just hand draw, since the concept art looks beautiful.

At one point, Cartoon Network did consider a Kevin & Kell animated series, and a script was written, but they decided to pass it on.

I'd like to see it animated, though. The strip is very storyline-centric, so there shouldn't be too much trouble transitioning.

Throwing my hat in with the Dr. McNinja crowd. That comic is just BEGGING to be animated, IMO.

Also Alexander Spectre: Paranormal Investigator would be cool, although there's not a lot of material , and it's based in the Hellboy Universe. Digger would be neat.

:)

I was referring to the colors. Maybe I should've been more specific. Sorry. It was kind of late at night when I wrote that post.

As for hand-drawn... I'm not sure. I'm just so used to seeing the comic in CGI that my tired old eyes would probably feel kind of "off put" if the animation was like that.
