Weather Presenters banging on about rubbish instead of the actual weather!

The BBC are mostly only interested in "celebrity presenters," those who'd provoke topics like; "Who's your favourite weather presenter?" on here. (for cryin' out loud!)

There's no "cosmetically challenged" female weather presenters.

It's more about ratings than weather.

You like to get the last word in don't you?;)

Can somebody else please back me up. You can't judge scientific sucess/outcomes based on individual perception.

The fact is, weather forecasts have got better and better every year for the past 30 years. I've posted the evidence yet still you carry on argueing even though the evidence is quite clear. If you don't believe it then fine, but you are cearly wrong in your assertion that forecast reliability hasn't improved.

Last word?

Well. You started, quoting my post.

You don't need any back up, you are entitled to your opinion, as am I.

You quote "statistics." I've worked with them for decades and always take them with a pinch of salt.

I related my ongoing experiences.

The accuracy of the weather forecast in this area isn't any better than it ever was, for the reasons I quoted and you choose to ignore.

But I don't mind, so let's call it a day.

Weather presenting on TV is pretty poor nowadays I agree. But the actual forecast data that is available on the BBC website (and the Met Office for the that matter) where you can tailor forecasts to your own area I find to be very much more accurate than even 10 years ago and very helpful in planning outdoor activities.

The old days of someone standing up and trying to tell you in a vague, headmasterly sort of way what the weather is going to be like the next day for a group of islanRAB covering an area of roughly 100,000 square miles have long gone in this era of interactive technology.

Maybe, but it's surprising the number of people who still watch and listen closely to those forecasts.

Maybe it's the generic nature that appeals, maybe it's that friendly feeling that you get with a human being presenting, maybe it's down to people not having the means to access all of this interactive technology, maybe people don't want the interactive elements, preferring someone else to take the decisions as to what they see or hear.

Yeah, I think you are probably right about that. Don't get me wrong I really like the option of getting my weather forecast off the internet, but I much prefer the old style TV presentation of weather compared to modern.

Judging by the complaints to the BBC and the Met Office over Rob being taken off-air and moved to the backroom quite a few people would disagree with you.

Polly described it as a rival channel in the morning which obviously means ITV Daybreak. Whilst on the subject of South East Today I've had word that Kaye Forster should be back on air soon.
