Last week I asked a question about sadness and weaning and while i got some great answers, I think I have a bigger situation going on and would like to hear from some experienced moms. My 11.5 month old has been down to one feeding late at night for the last several (3-4ish) weeks. The rest of the time she is eating table food and getting formula at school. I really thought that we would make it well past her first birthday, but she often sleeps through the night and is active with her teeth (and clumsy) when awake.
She has also had a series of viruses over the last 9 months that would make your head spin (she has a preschool brother-- germ factory.) Some of the recent colds combined with teething were a definite foil to our breastfeeding success. Anyway-- we were down to one (usually) feeding a day and I was ok with it. 2 weeks ago, we were on a camping trip when she became very ill very suddenly. She went from playing on a blanket to vomiting, listless with a high fever in a matter of 10 minutes. We rushed her to the ER with me in the backseat thinking that she may be dying in front of us. It turned out to be a virus (they thought she had meningitis when she came through the door.) We spend 6 hours in the ER and I nursed her quite a bit when we were there. And cried. And cried.
The next day I started crying at the drop of a hat, and it has continued that way. We went back down to one nursing session at night. Over the last few nights, she has had all 4 secondary incisors coming in at once and a stuffy nose-- not night nursing. Yesterday and today, the frequent sadness and crying were replaced with a rage that is absolutely hormonal. When it comes on, I am sensitive, victimized and mean all at once. Is this a normal part of weaning? I'd like to still nurse her at night when she wants to, but I can't be like this or I will surely be raising her alone soon.
I also have a bit of Hashimoto's and just had my Levothyroxine dose dropped from 175 to 150. This should reduce stress-related upsets though.
I apologize for the lengthy question but I think it is important to include details
