...own,is this legal? we have found a home to rent to own and owner has verbally agreed on price, however, there is a problem, the gas meter is located inside of the garage and not outside, also, it is about three feet from the gas water heater, we feel that this is not legal safe and would like to have a home inspection done prior to signing the papers, do we have a legal right to want this inspection done?
 
If this is truly a rent to own, you would want a home inspection. If the current owner doesn't abide by this, it's probably not a situation where you would want to go forward with this situation.

If the gas meter is located in the garage, you need to call the gas company to see how they check the meter.
I don't understand why you would think that there would be a problem to have the gas meter near the gas heater. The gas meter is just a meter that is connected to the gas pipes.
