ok so android is suppose to be a open source os but no one seems to be making any android pmp i really want one im tired of getting new phones i just wanna keep my g1 and have a really good android pmp. So far theres 3 that i know of sonys new walkman is suppose to run android ( but just a rumor ), creative zii egg ( but its only for developers ) and finally the viliv p3 which looks and sounds the coolest but i heard its gonna be expensive. So what do you think? should there be a equal amount of android phones and pmps?

I don't really see the point. Isn't android mostly about building apps, roms, etc?
Do you need those on a PMP? I have a Cowon D2, and I feel like trying to get Android to run on it would just be a waste of time, as it already does everything it needs to do: play music.

google promised android will run on all devices and some companies are having trouble competing with the ipod touch so why not use android it does everything the ipod does and kinda more.

The music app that comes default on android is by far one of its weakest selling points. Unless they came up with something much better running a PMP on android would fail big time.

Manufacturers would do theyre own thing, on top of android ,guys... remember this is android. Look at the se x10. Do u think that theyr timescape or whatever theyr calling they're ui sucks? Its android and pmp with it will rock

The media sync functionality in Android leaves much to be desired, for sure. But the manner in which Google approaches the problem may never live up to the likes of Apple.

They should take a lesson from the Palm / Apple spat and avoid an iTunes integration entirely. Maybe their own media player, which given Google's MO, will be web based and purchased from another company.
