We can logically assume God doesn't exist? : Confirm or refute?

This is based off of a response to a question a couple of minutes ago. The response was:
"Logically, we can assume God doesn't exist, that doesn't mean he/she doesn't - while that is fact the religous people in the world will have you believe it is my narrow minded opinion. Believe what you want."

So I'm just wondering what some of your viewpoints on this would be (in particular on logically assuming God exists or doesn't), and what some of the arguments are that you use to support your position.

Detailed explanations would be nice, clear explanations preferred, and reference to outside sources would be helpful. Remember that you are representing your position.
