Is the blower motor working at all and is any heat coming out of the vents even is very little?
The important thing here is the coolant mixed properly , use a anti-freeze tester and see what quality and mixture it is , it should be no more then 50/50 and good for around -40c.Another important issue is the anti-freeze that is that that engine etc what the factory recommends bec that can cause issues too.
Next you want to be sure that when the cooled down engine's thermostat hose is squeezed and then once the engine sits idling and warms up that there is pressure building up that would tell you that indeed the thermostat is working, bec even a new thermostat can be faulty.
Then once the engine is warmed up and you feel the heater-core two small hoses is anyone of them hot? With the blower motor on full and heat up high do both of these hose get hot?
You also need to know that no air bubbles or air clogs are in the coolant system ,I can't remember if that vehicle has an air bleeder valve but look for one , it could be on or by the thermostat housing. This valve is used to get air out of the system and once it's open and you see only a steady flow of coolant coming out of it that says no more air exists but note there could be air in another part of the system so let it run or drive it a bit then try bleeding it again , try this a few times to be sure.
Another method is with the engine cool , open the rad or over flow cap then start it up and wait to see if fluid gets pushed out bec air will be forced out as well.I'd try that a few times too but remember don't try to open the cap etc without the engine cool.
Next you could try to find out if a air clog etc exists in the heater-core itself. If you switch around the two heater-core hose then let it warm up and put the heat on that should force any air etc out of the heater-core, then simply switch them back around.Note that most of these heater-cores use plastic where the hoses mount on to so be quite gentle and careful bec it can snap or brake etc.
Another issue could be that the heater-core is leaking if you notice that with the heat and blower on that there is a gunk of the inner side of the windshield or an odd odour those are signs that the heater-core is no good.
You could try flushing the system and having a service manual is handy to have so you can use it's trouble shooting etc info and charts.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way again I can't express how important it is to be careful and patience when doing this type of work.
Note check with a parts store or dealership to find out if any service bulletins or factory recall issues exist on that vehicle and it could be a module that is faulty here especially if you A/C and blower motor issues.
If I needed parts for hat vehicle and wanted to save money etc I'd try the wreckers and especially U pick yards.
