Ways to save enegy for my computer?

I keep my computer on every night, and that wastes a lot of energy.

Should I press the moon in the upper left hand corner to make my computer go to sleep? Or should I shut my monitor off?

Any tips are appreciated.
 
Shut your computer all the way down every night. It will save your motherboard some extra life.

Not just the monitor, the whole system.
