Watta Bummer!

Got the news today that I was expecting but did'nt want to hear. My 2000 RG which was hit & damaged by an inattentive cager about 2 weeks ago has an $8,000 estimate to make it right again. The frame, fairing, crashbar, tour pack and several other items are damaged. I hate to think of what it would be like if I had gone down! Thankfully I stayed up and sustained no major injuries other than my left hand getting pinched when I hit the car. Now I guess the real fun begins with seeing what kind of runaround I get from her ins. co. especially since the bike had almost 158k on it. It really bites because I get my next vacation break in about 3 weeks.

Sorry to hear it. No way to get enough attention on a bike when the cagers have cell phones, in dash LCD screens, road head, etc. It could have been much worse and you should condsider yourself a luck man. Too bad you can't sell the 2000 Roadie and buy another then have a really fun vacation...or can you?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. You are lucky you were not hurt badly. As for your bike, I wouldn't be surprised if the Insurance Co. doesn't total it. A 2000 with that many miles. That's close to what the bikes worth.

I am certain they will total your bike. I was told somewhere around 50% damage will often generate a total loss. Start gathering your receipts and all your accessories totals.
(don't give them the totals until you get the word).

I checked Kelly Blue Book value & it gave a price of a bit over 10k not figuring in the options that I added to the bike. I'm sure the high mileage will knock the value down some. I have found another RG with only 14k on it but I have to see what the ins. co. & my C.F.O. are gonna have to say. But when all is said & done I'm still walkin & talkin and not in a hospital bed or worse. Have a Safe & Pleasent labor Day Ya'll!

I'm bettin KBB gave that price if it had recently been complete restored, with low mileage. Have another look, you may be disappointed more than you are now...

Glad you weren't hurt too bad!
