Watching cartoons online (legally) vs. TV

Yeah, hooking up a computer to your tv is the best thing you can do.

Best way to do this is buy a mac mini and an ipod touch. You basically use the ipod touch as a remote control for the tv. It works perfect, I absolutely love it.

You may say its a bit expensive but look at it this way, if you do this you never have to watch cable/satellite ever again.

This is the future and all TVs will be like this in the near future. You can just enjoy the benefits today.

And yeah, there are tons of sites that offer legal free streaming. Even some that are not very well known like kewl cartoons from DiC etc.

Also with PS3 you can stream a lot of content but its not very good and they recently blocked Hulu. With the Wii you can watch youtube and other flash video sites but not all of them. I am unsure of the 360.

Only problem at least one that I am having at least now is content restriction because of location but thats easily solved with a proxy.

yeah the recent hulu block for ps3 sucks.

my set up is i have my ps3 with a wireless router and my desktop hooked up to the same router, and i can put any media files, video, audio, pictures, anything on TVersity which is a free media server (you pay if you want to stream video to your TV, but with the PS3 you have an internet browser so you don't really need it) and any computer in my house can view it, which is handy because my girlfriend also has a laptop, so if i wanna watch something laying down in bed or taking a dump (which i havent done...yet) it works perfectly.

i only recently got cable, but that was her decision, i don't even watch it, all i did was watch the 4th of july twilight zone marathon, everything else is using my set up and netflix.

edit:
i read in last weeks issue of video business that netflix's streaming feature will be available on the ps3 later this year, which is rad.

One of the cons I'd have to say about watching them legally is that if you're outside of the host country, you're out of luck. That, and it's only the popular ones that show up often. Obscure ones on the other hand, you won't find them outside of YouTube.

I definitely prefer watching shows on TV. I don't like sitting in front of my computer too much in a day.

Sometimes I actally like having commercial breaks too, so there's a defined spot to go to the bathroom, grab a snack, etc.

I should seriously prefer watching shows online since they're always on, have less commercials and have a wider variety but I'm always extremely uncomfortable with my laptop in hand. I do use it though if I miss a show.

As it stands, I still prefer watching something trhough the TV than through a PC monitor.

I prefer watching cartoons on TV - I enjoy relaxing on the couch while the show is on rather than sitting in front of a computer. I especially like to watch new shows on TV, as I want to be able to contribute to the ratings that will hopefully keep them on the air longer. Having cartoons online is good as well - it's nice to be able to catch up on episodes you missed.
