Watched Movies you do not care for (but loved by others)

There are probably thousanRAB of them, but can you think of choice ones? To clarify, a movie you do not care for (but actually seen) is one that you'll watch once or twice, maybe even enjoy it, but you'd never watch it again even if it was on TV and there was nothing else on. You certainly wouldn't buy it on DVD. Basically it's a film you've seen and maybe enjoyed, but are not interested in seeing it again for whatever reason.

That's probably not a succinct description, but hopefully you'll get what I mean.

For me, it's the Back To The Future trilogy. I've seen each of them a few times over the years and while I've enjoyed them, I couldn't bring my self to watching them on tv recently, nor could I ever imagine owning the films on dvd. This suprises me because there are some classic scenes in the movies, and they are not bad in any way, they just don't have that certain something. Or maybe it's the corny slice of Americana (albeit in a comedy way) it dishes up that grates me. The teen rock kid, the jocks, the bully, the mad scientist. Fun in shorts doses.

I guess I'd put the Star Trek movies in the same category, I like them, but not a huge fan, always been a Star Wars guy. There are also a fair few war films that I would probably never watch again, Apocalypse Now, Platoon and The Deer Hunter spring to mind, simply because I'm not a huge fan of the genre, not that I didn't appreciate them when I did see them. I'll finally add the new Spiderman movies, fun to watch once, but a bit "meh".

Don't just think of movies you don't like, that's not what I'm getting at, at all. I await a few Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and Godfather replies :)

I don't care for the Star Trek movies either except maybe the Journey Home one, seen em' all at one time but they do little for me.

I never got into American Beauty despite it's huge popularity.

American Pie was loved by so many, not a bad movie by any means but I had seen it all before in countless 80's movies.

I love horror but would not want to watch the Alien movies again even though I do realise the first 2 are classics.

Beetlejuice is another movie that has some brilliant performances, excellent scenes and is exceptionally creative but for some strange reason,I've seen it once and whenever it's on I have no urge to watch it again.

The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter movies - absolutely not desire of watching them even though my mates reckons they are the best films ever made!!!

Casino Royale complete crap from start to finish with Bond totally mis-cast. I am so sure my opinion is right about this film that I believe anyone who likes it is only lying to themselves

It's the whole corny but 'entertaining' corny thing and the shiv of plot holes that makes those movies.

You said you'd get it and here it is Star Wars. I suppose for me the fact that straight away it's set in an entirely made up from scratch scarino. That straight away turns me off, it's not set in 'our world' and there's nothing I can relate to or understand and I'm starting with a blank sheet, and I have to learn everything about everything.

I'd rather have the 'this is going on here on earth in our world whilst other people are living their lives obvious'. I guess that's what my problem is with it. I'm lazy and can't be asked to take up a story from scratch.

Oh and I've never seen The Godfather. It just doesn't really appeal to me

One flew over the cuckoos nest.

Yeah, it was only, decent way to spend two hours. Doesn't really warrant a second watch for me though, even though my friend is obsessed with it,

The Godfather - hugely entertaining based upon your memories from watching it when your were 8 years old.

Watched now it's just a slow slow slog to the end.

Blokes always list it in their top five movies of all time along with Scarface. I always assume they are reminiscing about seeing it when they were 8 and/or joining in with the bloke stereotype where it must be named in your top 5 despite you not having seen it for at least 20 years and not really remembering it all that much.

[/ surprise rant that snuck up on me :) ]

Pulp Fiction. It's not a bad film or anything, but there is no way in hell that it deserves all the praise that it gets. Extremely overrated in my opinion.

oooo mine too! my sister went on and on and on about this film and when i watched it i wondered if we had actually watched the same film, i thought it was a bit rubbish
