Watched Brokeback For 1st time..had weird effect.

Brokeback made me cry too also left me feeling sad for a few days after seeing it. I bawled my eyes out from the start to the end of The fox and the hound when the old lady takes todd away and starts singing her song about him i'm a blubbering mess!
but then i cry at lots of things the ghost whisperer on E4 with jennifer love-hewitt makes me cry every week and when ever there is a funeral on soaps whether i watch them regulary or not! and to keep this in reference to the bb forum i also cried when Nadia won!!

Damn i cry alot :D
 
If anything I would have cried at the injustice of it all. Why would you get a fine director like Ang Lee to put out a pile of dog doo like this film. It really did have some good moments in it and genuinely touching ones too and a fantastic turn by Michelle Williams. But it was just angst over-drive.

I couldn't help but feel that the underlying message was that being gay was bad. It's a sad sad story indeed but it was told at a snails pace with over emphasis on the negative aspects of the relationship, mainly the disgust and self-loathing and apparent destruction of anyone's life that came into contact with the men.

The film was average. Sensationalised and average.
 
just watched it....what a pile of poop. Can someone please explain the ending to me, the part where im supposed to get emotional and cry because i think i missed it. :confused:
cant believe ive just wasted 2 hours of my life watching that crappp
 
It's actually based on a short story that we studied last year at Uni. My tutor really wanted to watch it to see how they managed to fit a short story into a 2 hour film.

I've not seen it yet, although i do own it on dvd :)
 
I competely agree with the above comment. We had to put the subtitles on to hear a single word

However, it was a good film once you got the subtitles on

I know what you mean. I thought it was a really beautiful film while watching it, but didnt cry in the cinema. Then on the way home on the bus I started feeling hollow and then after I got off the bus started crying uncontrollably. I was pretty depressed for the next few days

Its just weird how a film can affect you so much.
 
I watched it for the first time last night so thought id search to see if there were allready any threaRAB going on this film.
Allthought its really sad I wasnt crying. I think I was just stunned at the wierd ending ("JACK, I SWEAR".....WTF???) :D
I thought the time lapses were a bit annoying/confusing too.
I couldnt understand a word HL was saying so I had to put the subtitles on too. It IS a really good film though and allthough a bit overrated I kinda understand what all the fuss was about.
 
I watched Brokeback for the first time on Sky last weekend, my wife saw it at the cinema with a friend of hers and said I should watch it.

After all of the things I had heard I thought I would hate it, surprisingly I thought it was a fantastic film! My wife said when they first had sex in the tent and Ennis 'spat' a few people got up and walked out of the cinema - how narrow minded! I must admit it did feel a little uncomfortable, but that is how Ang Lee wants you to feel.

The story is excellent though with great performances by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaall, highly recommended to anyone who hasn't yet seen it!
 
i saw it last weekend for the first time and because of all the hype was prepared to be disappointed

but oh no ! i absolutely loved it ... terrific acting from jake and heath
a beautiful love story but ultimately very very sad :cry:
must just say i also had difficulty making out what they said some of the time

as for the beginning being slow that was to show the build up of the love between the two ..if they had got it together straight away it wouldn't have been credible
we had to be reminded also about the times the two were living in and how nigh impossible it would have been for them to be together back then
i'm getting emotional writing about the love of these two...

the scenery was beautifully breathtaking.......oh i think i'm in love with heath ledger :o

lastly crash won the oscar for best picture last year but in my opinion this should have won it.
 
Aww, when i first saw it a few weeks ago, i weeped like a baby too.

Can't really remember the films i've cried at, but Donnie Darko and Lion King are 2 I can think of.
 
LOL I cant understand why people made such a fuss about this film. Its first thing some people mention when the subject comes up. :yawn:

Back when Ang Lee was casting "Brokeback Mountain," he considered the two buddies, Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg, for the lead roles of the two star-crossed cowboy lovers. But after the two read the script, they found the scenes to be a little too much for them. According to Wahlberg:

"I met with Ang Lee on that movie, I read 15 pages of the script and got a little creeped out. It was very graphic, descriptive - the spitting on the hand, getting ready to do the thing. I told Ang Lee, 'I like you, you're a talented guy, if you want to talk about it more...' Thankfully, he didn't
