Watch, Listen & Think for Yourself: The Daughter of Twenty Faces Talkback (Spoilers)

WOW, That was fast- another episode already. At least we're slowly picking up the pace. I miss the days before episode 6. All these women are driving me nuts. D: Thank god for Ken :3

At first I thought that the profession could bee Twenty Faces in disguise, but by the way he sounRAB, he's much too bitter towarRAB him. Then again, he could do what he did with Akechi early on. I wouldn't be shocked if he showed up as that old man [while the real one is off somewhere else] without Chiko knowing.

It's weird, when Shunka and Chiko where peering in through the window at Tabata and Honda, they were humming the song that my grandmother's old music box used to play. It's a very pretty tune.

I sense danger a comin'

If I recall correctly (or am hearing such correctly), it goes by the name "Greensleeves".

That said it was a wonderful episode that manages to get the series back on track and set up a potentially good arc. Lots of ill feelings arise from this, especially considering bits and pieces of 20 Faces past and how his professor views him. Add another ****** of a supervillain who wants to kill Chiko and we've got some room for some mighty big plot developments and fights.

Six more episodes to go. Really looking forward to the next one.

17 and 18 are out!

17 thoughts:

These child assassins are hardcore. Ken gets some action, and the augmented lady from episode 8 unexpectedly returns. How will she figure into this?

Tome and the inspector decide to go after Chiko, though they don't turn up again. Hopefully they will factor in here.

As I expected, the professor is up to no good, being frustrated by Twenty Faces' behavior and determined to know the secrets of his research. He even uses Shunka as a hostage, forcing Chiko to reveal that the poem from last episode is syrabolic of the method necessary to achieve the fourth state of water.

I liked the Prof's perception of Chiko as a reflection of Twenty Faces. The whole shadow thing was really nice.

Fortunately Shunko gets out of trouble after the Prof goes back on his word, but not thanks to Ken as I was expecting. Woohoo, Twenty Faces is back again! Time for a showdown with the old professor.

Man those episodes... were AWESOME!
20 Faces was in top form these few episodes and for the majority part it was intense as all hell. While a bit anti-climatic in terms of Tome, Akine, Akechi, Ken, and that girl not getting THAT much action in the latter part, and a relatively quick resolution to the plotline (although Koito showed how useful she can be by becoming an inadvertent distraction), it was enjoyable all the same. Super enjoyable.
I WANT EPISODE 19 NOW!

Wow, crazy pair of episodes. Very, very awesome.

That old man is a creep. I'm glad Chiko continues to have faith in Twenty Faces no matter what anybody tells her. At the same time I'm also shocked she actually told him the secret behind the song. Usually the main character puRAB up their chest and says "NO!". It makes her really human, to be honest.
Kennnnnnn :]]]]] - him and that super snazzy motor bike.

I'm sooooo glad to see Twenty Faces again, and I really liked the sequence of flash backs involving him. They've made it much clearer now exactly what happened [for the most part] in his past. I was waiting for a good ol' explanation, but instead they've kind of fed us it little by little. It worked out nice.
For the record, Tome annoys the hell out of me.

I NEED MOAR EPISODES!! Twenty Faces can't be dead....again?!

And besides with only 4 more episodes left, I don't think the story (or even us) can handle another disappearance/death of Twenty Faces.

I'm not as optimistic about 17 and 18 as you guys. Definetly a huge improvement over the last couple but still doesn't reach the promise of the first six episodes.

I think this series has changed too much from what it used to be. It was set up as a crime caper with alot of style and a really likeable cast of characters. There was outlandish stuff from the beggining, but for the most part its stayed relatively low key. Now the series seems to be taking inspiration from pulp sci-fi instead. Really, with all these mad scientists and chunks of tokyo being atomised this is beggining to feel more like Giant Robo than Lupin the 3rd. Except, Giant Robo didn't have all these annoying side characters...

I did like some parts of these episodes. Twenty Faces return was welcome, and seeing more of his past was interesting. Also, the action was awesome as always, but I guess that a given in this show. I dunno, am I being too harsh on this? I just miss what this series was originally. They'll have to some major improvements in these last 4 episodes for this series to really win me over again, but somehow I doubt thats gonna happen...

No, you're definitely not being too harsh. For the most part I really agree with you. I think the downside of having such a great first 6 episodes is that it kind of, in a way, kills the rest of the show because you'll always be comparing things back to what it once was. While these last two episodes were pretty good, I don't think they'll ever amount to the explosive beginning that was so different from other shows. Chiko was more identifiable back then and now it feels as if what was originally a great idea has somewhat moved into a more typical, 'done before' field (an example would be, like mentioned, the mad scientist etc. etc.). It's taken a weird direction and even though a good chunk has been pretty awesome, there's an equal amount that comes off as nothing spectacular. I miss the old cast, because as of now I can't really find myself liking any of the characters expect Twenty Faces, Ken, and Chiko. I miss the old feel I got from this show. Now it's turned into 'teenage girls run around solving mysteries with a sub plot involving the mystery man'. Hopefully now they'll go back to what they had first started off with. This isn't to say, however, that Daughter Of Twenty Faces isn't a great series- it just has some flaws.

Looks like I'm not the only one who noticed a reserablance in the picture between Twenty Faces and Roger Smith. (A Big O tribute, perhaps?)

Is this series coming Stateside any time soon? Where is it airing right now that you're all able to watch it?

And oh boy was that mob persistent

I enjoyed 19 alot more than the last two. Still think this mad scientist villain and his mad scienstist plan is really lame, but the main characters make up for it. Hopefully by the next episode we'll have Chiko, Ken and Twenty Faces reunited and kicking ass.

But really, if there's a second season, lets just stick to the manga.

Man, this episode was intense. Every one of the main characters is on absolute edge and pushed to their limits. I can't wait to see them in the end giving that professor and his emotionless automaton lackeys some what for.

Three more episodes to go and I believe the last one airs this week in Japan. C'mon, let us finish this out with a bang!

YAY 19- totally tops the last two episodes like woah (and they were pretty good episodes at that)
Thank god Twenty Faces as ok. I hate injuries ;_; I'm glad Koito told Chiko to go and find him after they had gotten into the car. I was expecting her to be really annoying about it but I think she's grown alot through the past few episodes.
Tome still neeRAB to shut up

I really like Akechi.

Kinda pisses me off that the scientist stole Twenty Faces identity and is running amuck with it. Although maybe if they continue believing him and the scientist is eventually killed, it'll be better in the long run for the real Twenty Faces because he can resume living as an ordinary guy with absolutely no worry.

Wow. Mobs suck. People suck.

It took a long time, but finally there's episode 20.

Mostly action and the old professor being evil, declaring several times that he's won...with a few episodes left though, not bloody likely!

Bah, curse these cliffhangers though......

About time episode 20 came out.

The situation isn't looking too good for the good guys at this point. The professor assuming Twenty Faces' appearance was a bit jarring, though kinda cool, too. Loved Chiko declaring she'd be the one to take him down. She was doing well... for a time. It'll be interesting to see how they get out of it with two episodes remaining.

Also, I really liked the music that played when Chiko jumped from the airship and was running up the tower. Very nice.

And Ken with a sword just makes me happy :P

I had almost forgotten how much I love this series. Good times.

Not alot happened in this episode, but then it did have Chiko using mono-filliment wire to fight a robot so I have to kinda like it.

Lets hope the subbing gets a bit quicker.

At long last (3 months!) 21 is out.
The plot with the professor winRAB up with him and his robotic kiRAB biting it and Twenty Faces, Ken, and Chiko going their separate ways at the end.

I thought it was pretty cool that it was the ruby that ended up breaking the laser device... and that it was a complete fluke. Chiko tried everything she could and the pendant just was ripped from her neck and destroyed it.

I loved the conversation Chiko and Twenty Faces had at the end when he asked her to come with her and she said she wouldn't, though he would always be a part of her. I wonder what name she gave Twenty Faces.

I was a bit sad to see Ken leaving, too, though looks like he's got a girlfriend now

That episode felt like everything was more or less wrapped up so I wonder what 22 is about? Hopefully it won't take another 3 months for us to find out. Yeesh.

That was a lot of fun. In fact 21 seems to have resolved things very well, so I wonder what the last episode will do. We'll probably get a nice epilogue showing what's happened to everybody, including Twenty Faces hopefully. Heck, maybe we'll get a short time jump and see everybody just a bit older.

I say again, this really ought to get licensed by somebody.
