wat happenes if u run an amp and it doesnt have enough power reccomended for the sub?

i got 2 solo x 12s. they have 2500 rms and 5000 peak and there aint no way im gona get an amp ne where close to power that. so wat if i put a lower watt amp to power them. is there any negitives about this rather than it not hitting as hard.
