Waste of money to see Toyota dealership for possible battery problem?

I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla, and out of the blue (just started today!), my car battery won't hold a charge. If I let only a couple hours at rest pass, it's only slow to start. But if I let several hours pass, I get the clicking noise and it finally starts after several attempts.

I'm so not car savvy - does this sound like an easy/cheap problem to fix, or am I doing the right thing by seeing the Toyota dealership directly?
I really know little about cars...I would have no idea how to clean battery terminals (I don't even know what they are! LOL). Is this easy? Is this something a friend w/ more car knowledge would understand how to do?

A battery garentee is usualy for2 years after that it is\ down to you
It seems as one of the cell has gone bad and the only cure is a new battery
a spares shop would test it for you and advise on next move
