WashingtonPost on the Deficit, Bush vs. Obama

Mandatory spending is left out of Bush AND Obama

Why?

Because they had no power shrink the size of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid

They already have their own sets of laws that govern inflation that an incoming president can not change unless he gets 60 votes in the senate and 218 in the house

The chart is full of shit.

We are STILL in Iraq and Afghanistan (which the chart doesn't really show), not to mention it doesn't show the cost of Obamacare or the extension that Obama signed for "The Bush Tax Cuts" (which makes them the evil "Obama Tax Cuts" now).

the chart is a fallacy because the only Bush spending Obama has even partially rejected is defense, rather he is expanding GREATLY spending on the mcsteaks bush made.

Ezra Klein is a poor man's krugman, a liberal that intentionally misrepresents data to fit his agenda

then the stimulus paid for itself

no evidence, but like tax cuts, even when we do two huge ones and get little to no result, i just feel like it did something

The chart fails as it doesn't show where spending has actually increased.

SS 2009 was $640b
SS 2010 was $695b
Medicare 2009 $408b
Medicare 2010 $453b
Medicaid 2009 $224b
Medicaid 2010 $290b
Unemployment/Welfare/Other 2009 $360b
Unemployment/Welfare/Other 2010 $571b

2010 non defense discretionary spending was actually about $715b

Mandatory spending was up 15% from 2009 to 2010
Discretionary spending was up 14% from 2009 to 2010

Yes, that is a 30% increase in spending in one year yet the chart would have us believe spending was reduced.

After which they no longer count in the argument?

They fell off a cliff is more accurate than "fall". But shhhhh, we can't talk about that, tax cuts create jobs and revenue!

Bush was fucking president 3 years ago. When the fuck is Obama going to start leading instead of blaming Bush? Oh that's right the guy hasn't led a fucking thing in his life.

SOCIAL SECURITY INCREASED BY BILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM 2001-2009

I BLAME BUSH EVEN THOUGH HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT

Oh wait, I'm not a tool, I actually don't blame Bush for increased outlays in social security
