Max’s feet started to throb as he jogged through the scenic Downtown Park, trying to rid all the stress that built through the day. The wind started to blow making the front of his sweat soaked shirt cold against his chest. He found a bench underneath a half naked oak tree, there he would rest his aching feet and catch his breath. He sat down beside an old man reading The Edwin Observer. “Beautiful day, today.” , the old man said, still glaring at the paper that was in front of him. Max waited a minute and finally responded to the Old Man’s statement. “Yeah, but, too cold.” He wasn’t used to cold weather in September. Him and his wife moved to Edwin Springs, Montana, from Charleston, South Carolina, just a week ago. September in Charleston, they were still wearing short sleeves and shorts, in Edwin Springs, its been long sleeves and pants since they moved. The man put the paper down on his lap and shook his head.“Nah, not too bad, its gonna get worst.” He was an African American fellow with salt and pepper hair and a little on the heavy side, he wore reading glasses, which he was now holding in his hand. “The names Walter”, said the old man, extending his arm towards Max. Max grabbed the Old Man’s hand and shook it, like he expected him to do. “Max”, Max said, still shaking Walter’s hand. “What brings you to the small town of Edwin Springs, son?” Walter asked, releasing Max’s hand. “How did you know I wasn’t from around here?” Max asked, stunned. “Well normal Edwin Springs residents, wouldn’t be complaining about 55 degree weather being ‘too cold’”, Walter said, with a smile five miles wide.”Work” , Max said. Max was a detective for the Berkley County Police Department in Charleston, SC, where he got a job offer, making more money at the Edwin County Police Department in downtown Taylorsville, Montana. Him and his wife choose to live in Edwin Springs, because it was more secluded and the homes were significantly cheaper. Edwin Springs was a small town bordered by Taylorsville to the east, Cumberton to the west, York to the south and by Alberta, Canada to the North. The scenic nature in Edwin Springs was beautiful, peaceful, and full of life..........i know that theres grammatical errors and no paragraphs, but tell me what you think about the story itself? P.S. not finished yet.
