Let me start off by saying, I ALWAYS tip. I know the importance of tipping, and that many workers depend upon their tips. So no rude comments are appreciated here. That being said-
I have constantly wondered if tipping was established just so that the business wouldn't have to pay the worker that much(considering most waitors/waitresses make $3/hr plus tips) Just seems like the business is relying upon the customers to pay their employees, so that they won't have to. Honestly, it makes no sense to me. Why can't they pay the workers more instead of rely on us to pay them? The whole system seems odd to me. Restaurants must save a load of money in that they pay their waiters squat, and the customers are basically paying their wages, or the large chunk of it.
