You should always do a coolant flush every 30-50k miles. This routine maintenace is always overlooked. You just made your car alot/feel better in the long run. Yeah $100 is alot but don't be paranoid. Or you could of done it yourself to save money. Get a repair manual at your local autoparts store and learn fixing your car. Than way you won't be so paranoid when you fix your car.

Just got my Buick , a Coolant Flush for $100 or so. Initially It was just an Oil Change but the mech. strongly recommended the coolant flush saying , your radiator , needs coolant and there is sludge etc.
I wondered is there something, he could do to deliberately screw up my lass , while flushing the coolant ( I can't imagine..but what if he kept the hooks loose or sent the coolant the wrong way ) so that after a few days I will come back with another host of probs. My Buick is 210k Old but still looks and drives like 50k and I want to keep it that way.
I am pretty sure I am being paranoid, for I oversaw the work but just wanted to know what all could be done while the procedure was on , that was not supposed to be done to help the mortality of car.

If you're paranoid about the care of your car, then do it yourself.

Neither an oil change, or coolant removal requires any amount of special machines or brainwork. Yes they use a machine to do it, but you can do it yourself.

So instead of being paranoid about professionals working on your car, do it yourself. That way, if anything goes wrong, it's only your fault.

As usual you got ripped. A radiator flush is a total waste of money. If your engine runs hot a RADIATOR SHOP is the only answer. If you have no heating problem then there is no reason to mess with the system. Pure profit for the shop.
