I seem to remember a long time ago seeing a piece of animation of garfield (i believe it was on the 10th anniversary special) that had him in his 1978 design. Was this clip made just for the special or was there garfield animation pre-80s?
The only pre-1908s Garfield animation was a brief segment in the CBS special The Fantastic Funnies, hosted by Loni Anderson. It's also worth mentioning that Garfield was not voiced by Lorezno Music in this special.
Nah, can't remember anymore; it was too long ago. Anyways, I don't think he was voiced by any big-name voice actor; it was just a 2 minute segment on the special. Garfield got the least amount of screen time of all the characters featured since at the time he was the "newest strip on the block." This was long before the crabby tabby became a household word.
Several: Broom Hilda, Beetle Bailey, Dennis the Menace, Tumbleweeds, Momma, even Doonsbury, even though the clip was just a bit from the half hour Doonsbury prime-time special that previously aired on NBC.
