Was the David Letterman joke the last straw for Sarah Palin?

Maybe she just feels like all the bad press she gets is harming her family and she wants to protect them and that means giving up her job. I think that families of politicians should be off-limits to the press. It's just ridiculous how the media will make a huge deal about the family lives of our leaders. Family should be off-limits because it doesn't just affect the politician.
