was the book: the god delusion any good?

I think it's an awesome book. Dawkins is a brilliant author, and his arguments tend to be solid. But, as J.P. put it so eloquently, not everybody will like it. However, I highly recommend it whether you're religious or not.

there is a god her creating everything the only ones who are blind are the unsaved and stooburn

Disappointing compared to Dawkins' earlier, more scientifically oriented work.

I'm an atheist but I found it to be utter garbage.

Richard Dawkins is an absolutely BRILLIANT evolutionary biologist who can expertly communicate even difficult material in a way accessible to most people.

However, as a philosopher and theologian, he is an unarmed man in a battle of wits when the opposition is armed with nukes. "The God Delusion" spends a chapter of him essentially claiming all religions are like Christianity, then spends most of the rest of the book lamely bashing Christianity, and then weakly concludes that since he's "disproven" Christianity he's disproven all religions.

Christianity is false, patently so, but Dawkins should stick to biology. He's good at it. He sucks at philosophy and theology.

Not compared to Darwkins' earlier works more focussed on his real expertise in evolutionary biology.

Though if you can leave the bones on one side and concentrate on the good stuff there is still a lot of that.
Here the main problem is that his tone is way off, if expecting to get a hearing from a wide audience.

More flies are caught with honey than with vinegar.

(atheist, but not a Dawkins worshipper)
