Hi All, I lost my log in 411 so I had to make up a new one but I need some help.. I havent been on here in a few years so much has happened, I got hit by a drunk driver and was in the hospital for a very longtime and was trying to recover

I broke my back and I belived I hurt my L1-L5 but I lost my records and cant get new ones and was wondering if anyone can help me? I had to learn how to walk, talk, read, and write all over again I was in a coma for a very longtime,

I went though alot of PT to be able to walk again. I cant get the records to the hospital I was at because it burned down.

Im trying to see if anyone would know what kind of injurys I may of had and What surgerys would I have had to be able to walk again?

Im trying to get pregant and the doctors said I need to let them know what kind of surgerys I had on my L1-L5 and I have no idea? my memory is very bad from being in a coma and I only had one copy of my medical history and kaiser lost it, I didnt have copies , I know , I know, my fault!!!
I was told in the past I can only have a C-section because if I gave birth normaly I could have problems and injury myself worse and could because parlaized again and I cant go though the hell I went though again, being stuck in that chair and not being able to walk, and do stuff on my own like I can now...

StarrAndrews,

I think the first step would be to make an appointment with your primary care--they should have all the records from your injury. Did you have family members with you after the accident? They may know what type of procedures were performed on you and who the doctors were caring for you. You must have gone into a rehabilitation facility after your release from the hospital, this facility also should have extensive records on the surgeries and procedures performed while you where an inpatient at the hospital. You can also follow-up with the Physical Therapy group that treated you, they should also have a record of what surgical procedures were performed on you. This information was indeed needed before they could tailor a physical therapy program for you. You could also make an appointment with a neurosurgeon in your area to get their opinion on the risk and benefits to being pregnant and the precautions that would need to be implemented for you to give birth safely. This neurosurgeon would most likely order some x-ray's and possiblily a CT scan of your back to determine what surgery was performed.

My best guess is that sometype of fusion was performed to stabilize your back.

The other option would be to contact the district attorney or prosecuting attorney for your state where the drunk driving accident happened and have them pull the case file. This may contain a summary of the events which may include your injuries and possibly some of the medical procedures that were done to stabilize you. If the case went to trial, than they may also have subpoenaed your medical records.

Good luck in your endeavor to become a mother--I will keep you and your husband in my prayers.

You have come through quite abit already, and I congratulate you on your perseverance.
