Was OJ's "If I did it" taken out of context?

Is it possible that he meant that he didn't commit the murders but if he did it would have been done a completely different way then what the LAPD stated and thus he didn't commit the crime. How many people actually read the book and read it with an open mind?
It's obviously a moot point, but just asking.
 
I didn't read the book for one reason only. Becuase OJ wanted us too. He wrote the book ecause he was realised it had been a while since there was any media attention on him. Then after the all the hype from his stupid book died down, he was probably missing all the attention, so what does he do? He charges into some guys hotel room with a bunch of dudes and weaponds. What a loser.
 
I am in the UK and had never heard of OJ until I read the book, so
I read it with an open mind.

I agree that the phrase could have been taken out of context.
But it is the defendant's writings. What would we have read if
the prosecutor had been allowed to write?

It reminds me of a case I sat in on some years ago, where a
burglar said 'If it was me, there would be fingerprints everywhere.
I don't have the sense to wear gloves'. He was convicted on
DNA evidence......
