Was making AVATAR 3D Blu-ray a Panasonic Exclusive a Mistake for Fox?

Let me remind everyone that Avatar on 3D is locked to Panasonic until past 2012 and the film was released in 2009 and there there was a gigantic support into the shift to 3D televisions. I am just thinking that despite whatever Panasonic was paying, 3D format is un-piratable and you really couldn't see it without buying the Blu-ray Avatar 3D Blu-ray. It was set to be a hit.

Avatar Blu-ray 3D is now only available on Panasonic bundles, so even Panasonic owners will find it hard buying (if they didn't get a copy or need another). Also having exclusive period longer than 6 months is only dragging the hype down. AVATAR 3d on blu-ray could had re-hyped the Franchise at the Christmas holidays and become a hit on the the year after it was a hit.
