Was last year's warm weather due to El Nino or global warming?

On Saturday January 6th, 2007 we experienced record setting temperatures of 72°F! Is this unusual weather due to Global Warming, or because of El Nino? Please cite a source or explain your reasoning.
When I say "we," I mean in the Washington DC area.

And the last two years it's been trending colder. On Jan 6th, 2008 it was 41 degrees and on Jan 6th 2009 it was 33 degrees.

I guess "Global Warming" is over as well as El Nino as that also ended in 2006.

There was no El Nino last year. Lots of things contribute to unusual warm weather. Right now in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have had temperatures close to 70 degrees for the last week. ??? Yet, other parts of the country are freezing.

Probably mostly El Niño, as well as various other factors. There are 100 things that can determine your temperature on any given day, global warming is just 1 of them.

The year 2008 was a la Nina year.

"The global mean temperature for 2008 is 14.3 °C, making it the tenth warmest year on a record that dates back to 1850. The Met Office Hadley Centre ... says this figure is slightly down on earlier years this century partly because of the La Niña that developed in the Pacific Ocean during 2007.

"La Niña events typically coincide with cooler global temperatures, and 2008 is slightly cooler than the norm under current climate conditions."

Wait, is your question about last year? or 2007. There was a weak el Nino during 2006-2007.
