Was it fair/ethical that my biology instructor gave me a grade of 40?

In our biology class, we are required to complete 5 of the 20-minute online reviews for each chapter in the textbook. Each 20-minute review session is worth 20 points. Completing all 5 of these is a total of 100 minutes, which is a grade of 100. Last week, I only completed 2 of the 5 (40 minutes total) reviews and the instructor gave me a 40 for that week. 40% is an F. Was it fair?
Could I at least gotten a 70?

yes it was fair. If you would have done 4 you would have gotten an 80%, 3 would have been 60%

You got what you earned. And this is not a legal ethics question. So maybe you should get a 30 instead.

You did 2/5ths of the work required....40% and that is an 'F' in every circumstance.

Why do you expect a 'C' grade when you didn't even do 50% of the work required?

You only completed 2 out of the 5 required 20-minute reviews, giving you only 40 minutes. 20 X 2 is not 70, it is 40. Try it on a calculator. 2/5=40%.
