Or was it some other pair of candidates? My history professor was saying that one presidential candidate was so sure that he would get a positive "oh he looks strong and confident" reaction from the crowd if he did this. His advisors told him not to, but he insisted.
So, while the other one (republican) is speaking, he mosies on over next to him all stiffly and stands there for a second or two then awkwardly moves back to his own podium.
