Was Digmon's Sora inspired by Pokemon's Misty?

After reading the character bios on Wikipedia and re watched some old Pokemon and Digimon episodes on YouTube, I can completely understand that Misty and Sora are very different characters with very different backgrounRAB, and I do love their characters equally. But whenever I watch an episode of Digimon, since it first came on in 1999, I can't help but think that Sora's look was based on that of Misty. Now I'm sure people have said about the Digimon charcters in Digimon, such as Tai looking almost like Ash (since both of their shirts are blue and have yellow trimming for the pockets), Agumon looking similar to Charmander. But among the human characters in Digimon, Sora's look has the be the most unoriginal design in season 1. She's nearly identical to Misty: Both had on Yellow sleeveless tops, red hair, though unlike Misty, Sora had longer jeans, a different pair of sneakers (with a different zig zag design), her eyes were red (as opposed to Misty's blue-green), and she also wore a blue helmet.

So my question is: did Misty’s look inspire Sora? Yes or no?

Digimon was always one of the series that contained both orinigal and rip-offed ideas. The virtual pet may or may have not been inspired by the Pokemon games, but was SO different as both a device and more importantly a game, that the Digimon virtual pets could not at all be called a pokemon ripoff.

That was the games. The show PROBABLY borrowed a few ideas, like ideas of 'Mons fighting for humans, but for the most part avoided outright plagiarism, took a few ideas like evolution, and created something utterly orinigal, much like Cowboy Bebop taking various genres like scifi, kung-fu epics, jazz, etc., and made something new. (Much like the music genre "Bebop" taking previous genres and making something new, hence the title.)

The 'Mons genre is basically the same, which Pokemon being the first formal entry and creating alot of its cliches, but taking quite a few cliches from RPG's in general, and the "Digital Devil" series from the 80's predated Pokmon and was probably a stronger influence on Digimon rather Pokemon. Much like Dracula inspiring most vampires, but drew VERY heavily from a novel called "Carmila" , and both of course drew heavily from the orinigal vampires myths while making up a few of their own twists. And like vampire literature, SO MUCH of current day 'Mons series can either be ripoff's of either Pokemon and Yugioh, which was inspired/rip-ffed Magic The Gathering, to series that are completely or mostly orinigal, like "Medabots" being in between but still very hilarious.

As for Sora, I can see her look being inspired/rip-ffed from Misty, but personality she's definately different. Either it was clever twist, tricking people into thinking she's rip-off and then doing a 180, or its just a coincedence.

As for looks I'd say Ruki from "Digimon Tamers" was influenced by Misty, but again was a drastically different character from Misty, and the writers admitted she was "The Yamato/Matt & Ken" of that season, taking the loner pretty boy popular in the previous series and is a generic character in anime, and making the character a girl.

I don't know maybe. It could just be a coisidence. They had similar looks, and level of intelligence. Taichi sometimes got on Sora's nerves, just like Ash got on Misty's nerves.

It is funny that today I was thinking about a Digimon character weather or not he was inspired by a character from another anime.

So I ask is Kurata from Digimon Savers inspried or rip off of Aizen from Bleach? They are both evil guys with glasses who were pretended to be good guys for a long time, were assistants to someone, and than after years of plotting revealed to the world their true evil natues. They also use mutant type species to help them. Kurata created BioHybryRAB which is a mixture of human and digimon to help him and even became one himself, while Aizen used Arrancar pacificly the Espada, which have both the powers of Hollow and Soul Reaper to help him in his desires.

One difference is Kurata resented and was jealous of his superior Suguru Damon, he really hated his boss, while so far it appears Aizen didn't have any particular personal resentment or jealous towarRAB Shinji Hirako.

I'd say Sora probably draws more from DBGT's Pan but it comes down to them both being stylized Japanese preteens in clothes they'd wear in Shibuya. I'd say it's more a case of shonen archetypes. Popular manga and characterizations do rub off on each other. YGO5RAB feels like a remix of the previous series (plural) and filler with some Code Geass added in (so far it seems like they took a character wholesale- down to her appearance)

That's definitely true. In all honesty, I don't really see much of anything similar between their personalities. They may have a couple of similar character designs, specifically the hair color and color of their clothes, but I don't really see how that could make Sora inspired by Misty.

Hmm...

I really don't see how they look that much alike. Besides, didn't Digimon:TAS begin in Japan before Pokemon:TAS? if that's the case, then there's no way that Sora could have been inspired by Misty.

Not really, Pokemon premiered in Japan in 1997, while Digimon premiered two years later in 1999. Misty definitely predates Sora, and that's not putting into account Misty was also in the games before the anime.

But I agree they aren't too similar to actually state one was modeled after the other. For example.

- Sora has a lot less toraboyish tastes than Misty. In the second series, Sora shows interest in flower gardening and designing clothes. Misty pretty much never leaves her toraboy tastes.
- Misty can be as immature as Ash sometimes. Sora is considered the most mature of the original team.
- Sora eventually shows romantic interests. Misty seems not interested in romance at all (not a serious relationship, at least).
- Misty gets irritated rather easily. Sora hardly, if ever, gets angry at anyone.

Whoa whoa, is this the same Misty who swooned over the thought of certain guys all over the place in the first and second season? Guys hit on her, and she even stated that she's a "romantic". She was to the point of being an addict when the thought even came up. Like having the perfect dress with the perfect guy.

Sora is normaly calm and rational, and rarely loses her temper, but there are two people that can get Sora to lose her cool, Taichi and Piyomon. For some reason, they have the gift of testing Sora's temper.

Another comparison, relationship with their parental figures. In the beginning of the series, Sora is estranged from her mother, who doesn't really approve of her toraboyish ways than later becomes closer to her mother.

Misty was estranged from her sisters, who differ with Misty's toraboyish personality. Later on, Misty's becomes a little closer relationship with her sisters, well her oldest sister Daisy at least (if you seen the early episodes, Daisy wasn't that mean or antagonist towarRAB Misty at all, it was mostly her youngest older sister Lily that always found uncomplimentory things to say about Misty, while the middle older sister Violet, was more neutral or in between of the other two in term of attitude). BTW, I may have mixed up the names of Lily and Violet. I know Daisy is the oldest, but I get Lily and Violet confused sometimes, but I know the youngest older sister is the meanest one.
