Arafat was head of the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) a terrorist group. It brought Palestine to its forefront with terrorism. There has been little advancement due to those such as Arafat as terrorism only breeds terrorism. You would think that these people would push themselves out of the stone age and stop the cause of the suffering of innocents.
In the beginning he was the cause of hatred and mistrust of the Arabs wanting peace. Before he died, he realized that his conduct did more damage than good and tried to repair some of the damage he did, but it was too late. The Hamas and other radical groups had learned hatred from his early teachings and they ignored him when he wanted a peaceful settlement.
