Warranty and tuners

Hello all, warranties and aftermarket tuner installs. I assume if you install a SE turner your covered with or without if a HD tech installs it?
If you have a Master Tuner installed by a HD tech, your not covered? Or is it, if the damage was caused by the tuner by altering the ecm, its not covered.
Going after the Master tuner and yes, i bought the ext warranty. If something happens to the engine, would be nice to know im covered.
I'd like to do the install myself and pick up a laptop. I see there is alot of support on here when it comes to the Master tuner.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act basically states that the dealer has to prove any changes/alterations to your bike directly led to the said issue. If you burn a hole in a piston the dealer certainly may have a leg to stand on. If you have a transmission, electrical type issue, not so likely. With a competent tuner it likely won't be an issue. The main issue with the SEPT tuner is once loaded, it forever brands your stock ECU. A PCV can be removed and a dealer may never know. I don't know if the Master Tuner is like this or not but your dealer will probably make note of it in his computer system...
 
One of the problems will be that the ecm controls so much on the bike that the dealer can point to a modification as the cause of electrical problems. Oddly enough my dealer installs many of the aftermarket tuners. I'd check with them or the money spent on the extended warrenty may have been wasted. I p9issing match over warrenty service based on the federal act could takes quite some time.
 
With the TTS you can change the calibration id of the new map to the same as the stock map. That way no one can tell the bike has been tuned. Still puts a smile on my face when I tune a new bike.
 
Maybe just keeping the OEM parts around would be a good idea, which for me would be just reinstalling the oem air cleaner and reinstalling the the old map.
The dealer installed the super trapp slip ons. Said i didn't need a download. Bike seems to running hotter than ever and the slip ons are turning color. I think the bike is running very lean and the turner is just what i need.
But, what do i know. I'm just a plumber
