I think if you tried this, it would tell you that crock pots don't work
like capacitors. But you are welcome to try, and report back the
results. I'd be interested. I suspect that the temperature rise would
be much flatter in the beginning.

I'm with Megan here. Unless you do something additional, you have no
way of knowing whether you have reached the endpoint, other than gut
feeling.
