After the food is cooked, I have used the "warm" setting on mine with no
problems. I am wondering if your "crockpot" might have a temperature
defect. I had a Rival brand "Crock Pot" that had a thermostat that was
so horrible it rapidly boiled liquids on "warm" I wound up tossing it
and now have a Hamilton Beach which I adore.

The Rival Crock Pot was the canonical slow cooker. My old cookbook
used it as the model for all their recipes. That unit must have been
defective.

I don't believe it was. I Googled the problem and it seems that the
models produced in the last couple of years had a habit of boiling
everything no matter what the setting.

I had a Rival Crock Pot years and years ago and it worked perfectly, but
it wasn't made in China.

I suppose my previous Rival-dissing post wasn't completely fair. Rival used
to have a factory here locally before they went to hell in a handbasket
including changing hands several times IIRC. I do remember having (I think
it was in the ex-wife-1 period) one of their crock pots we received as a
wedding gift that was servicable for a reasonable time. But everything else
I've ever owned that said Rival either was crap right out of the box or
became so in short order.
