Warning about a RIM ? TMobile issue that can cost you $275 and not be at fault!

no you cannot its built into the os of said phone you are using & then activated via service books from the tmo system...

... and besides any tmo rep can see what phones you use with its ime #

Wrong, MyFaves will work whether or not the application is installed or not. You can manage your MyFaves from My T-Mobile, and it will not bill you for the people you have in your MyFaves. This is true for any phone.

So you're telling me I can put my phone in any tmo gsm phone and you can activate myfaves? I don't think so.

So you're telling me I can put my sim in any tmo gsm phone and you can activate myfaves? I don't think so.

So you're telling me I can put my sim in any tmo gsm phone and you can activate myfaves? I don't think so. Infact I know. Because some of the first pearls werenot myfaves compatible.

So I thought about what you said.

I get what you're saying. If its activated it still knows your 5 regaurdless if you dial via the app...

I'm a dick.

the issue with using a non myfaves phone is that the network checks the phone for changes in the myfaves so if it doesnt see any myfaves contacts on the phone they will dissappear out of your my tmo account and none of your calls will be free. so yes it can be done but you have to constantly check and make sure that they dont drop off. if they do your bill can quite easily spike.

No. The ONLY thing the interface does is let you edit the contacts from your phone. The system never checks your phone for my faves. When yo add a contact in or make a change it sends a silent sms to the system that there was a change, you get the hour glass on the icon, it sends a confirm message back to the phone that it recived your request, you read that message, it sends another silent sms to the sytem letting it know you accepted which then updates the my faves in billing. Many a person has run with my faves since the beginning with phones that do not have my faves originaly such as the 8700.

I don't understand how a CTN (phone number) can affect your email address. They are completely seperate entities. Sounds to me that they're just confused, and talkin' BS to you. Your email address through RIM, is attached to your PIN, regardless of the SIM or CTN thats attached to it.

The phone number does not but the subscriber id and the pin are attached to the imsi ( embedded in the SIM) on RIM's BWC admin tool and provisioning tool. Different mobile number and sim equals problems transfering the email address. I'm not saying it cannot be transfered but most often Rim doesn't take the time needed to do so .

Scenerio: Customer comes in and says; "I have FIVE phone lines with TMobile and the Blackberry Unlimited Data Plan since 2002. It's a Family Plan and serves exactly that purpose. Recently we wanted to upgrade to "MyFaves" however, the Blackberry 8700G is not compatible with "MyFaves."

OK: If you came into my store (i am a retail store manager) NOT an Indirect Dealer (person who owns a business and can sell any service provider) & I hope you did not go one. (If you did visit an Indirect Dealer this might explain your dilemma); this is what I would have said to you Hotweelz.

Thanks for being a TMO customer and I reccommend you do change your Family plan to the Fave 5.
1st Question; which Family plan?
2nd Question; everyone has a BB or various handsets?
3rd Question; do any of the 5 persons want to upgrade their handset to a Myfaves handset?
if answer is yes; then do the upgrades 1st.
is answer is no; then just continue with Plan change.
All TMO handsets are now MyFaves, BUT those released before 6/07 are not.
Remember if you unlocked your phone from another carrier, well its not going have the myfaves interface.
YET you can to t-mobile.com and sign up for MyTmobile. Its FREE and it lets you do such things as view your bill, make a payment, download stuff, add a feature etc..etc and manage, assign and/or change your MyFaves numbers.
I have a Samsung t809 my wife has a 1st gen RAZR; NEITHER phone have the myfaves interface;
But we manage our MyFaves through the MyTmobile on t-mobile.com.
Bottom line is: if all lines are BB phones or various phones ,IT DOES NOT MATTER. You are changing PLANS not phones.
Sorry you had to go through all that.

I used to move my blackberry between my lines and whenever I'd switch I noticed my bb email address stopped working. I called T-Mo who put me on with RIM, and they released my email address. If your e-mail address "isn't showing up" have them transfer you to RIM and play dumb, tell them its not showing up in your list on Set Up Internet E-Mail and it won't let you register it again, and they will release it for you =P
