It was brought to my attention that I may have temp banned a few people that posted links to warez sites prior to my becoming a mod for this group.

So in fairness to everyone, the temp bans have been removed and I'm giving amnesty to anyone that violated warez rule prior to my inauguration as Series60 Mod. The warez rules has always existed on HoFo but was not truly enforced in this group.

I'll continue to remove links prior to 8/19/04 and threads as necessary and reported to me.

If you have warez questions this will be the thread to ask them. There seems to be a number of people that don't understand the difference between warez, freeware shareware and traditional pay software.

This will also apply to unlocking threads and posts. Other issues will be on a case by case basis.

Does this mean there will be no bans or temp for posting warez links If so. Can someone provide a website that has free legal things to download to an ngage. Not including mysybian.Com and handago.Com
 
No it does not mean there won't be bans it just means posts prior to that date are exempt. Requesting sites that distribute software with cracks, keygens or otherwise tell you how to by pass the author's registration are still off limits in this forum.

I don't have a problem with other forums, but most forums that claim to have software are in fact promoting illegal distribution in most cases however there are exceptions.

meaning that if u post warez links b4 august 19th the link will be removed and u wont be banned...

but if it is after august 19th then u will be BANNED be mod hf 4~
 
As a general rule I consider everyone aware of the rules. It's posted in the HoFo and there's a sticky in Series60 and N-Gage forums. Ignorance is not an excuse, as some have later claimed. First offense is a minimum of 3 days (72 hours)

If you feel you been unjustly banned then by all means message me via AIM or even
email me and state your case, an apology or promise won't change anything. If you flame me or other such non-sense (it's happened already) then don't expect your ban to be lifted and in fact it may be increased.

Creating additional ids while being banned is grounds for perma ban. Your new id will be perma banned immediately regardless and you may receive additional time on your original offense.

If you find warez links simply report them, posting to the threads only compounds the problem.

What if you dont know if the links are legal or not. Do we still report them to you?

Man. It is so hard to find something legal and free these days. Anybody know a legal free website for s60 phone downloads?
 
Can anybody explain to me what is warez mean?

I'm really new to here and don't want to offence anybody. But I've posted a message here couple days ago, now it is gone.
What happened??

It sounds like it is related to warez. But what is the hell of warez mean???

I was just asked for help if anybody know some places that I can download (promotion or trial, etc.) free games for my phone.

Now, I learned something.
But, I saw the people here replied me in the thread I posted with those websites from the vendors that allowed users to free download theirs games. Why this is also be considered as pirates???
 
No, they are not cracked. If the vendors ask you to try theirs products and give them to you for free, you still ban your members here to try them and think that they are pirates?

Just want to give my voice for my deleted post here that was with a wrong reason. Not all free games download site should be considered as so called warez or pirates.
 
Sometimes threads, to no fault of the author, are closed because they've gotten completely off track, personal attacks or even become a thread about warez. If I have to delete more than a couple posts in one thread I'll usually just close the thread all together.
 
This is a great thread which helps clear up the differences between the previously mentioned concepts. Having a clear set of rules helps the S60 forum remain very organized, this is something which wasn't always the case.

HF4, could we consider a page or a sticky which lists the sites that are legit to go to like my-symbian.com or Handago? That way we can refer new members to the right and legal sites.

Yeah. A nice list of legal sites would be great.
