BAH i just realized my spelling error in the main question...

****are, not "ware"
I am a sophomore in high school and my mom and I are in a disagreement. She says that if someone with no extracurricular activities that are directly connected to the school (clubs, sports, etc) cannot get into a very good college; they mainly look at grades and how active you are in the school.

I am just on the bridge of having a 93% average. i have been taking guitar lessons for 5 years and i have been taking art lessons for 6 years (both from teachers not connected to my high school in anyway). I really love both but my parents dont seem too excited to let me try to get a job in either of them.

Anyway (i think im droning on), my basic question is: is it OK that im not active in the school? im not apart of any clubs as none interest me, im not interested in sports at all, and neither does student government. is this going to seriously cut my chances of getting into a college i want to as my parents tell me? i have not decided on what college, but im not counting on getting into harvard or oxford or anything. if i were to try to major in any one thing it would certainly be english...

i tried to give as much info as i could...sorry if its too long.
