Wanting to do camp america?

I really want to do camp america next summer. They say that you need experience with children which i haven't yet had (which is why I plan at au pair in France this summer). I also have the problem that although I would consider myself fit and healthy, and like to ski and cycle I am not really really good at the kind of sports they require. I would like to be a counsellor but I don't know if this is a good idea if there is nothing i can really teach? Anyone been to camp america who can tell me what it is like also? Thanks!

I worked at Camp America in 2002, in Ohio. It was great. As long as you are outgoing and willing to learn, you can work there. Counsellors do not teach, so you will be ok. you supervise the children and take them to their activities etc so that's easy. You only need experience in the sports etc, if you are going to be teaching those events, which you won't.

Give it a try...it's great fun.

Good Luck
