Wanting to decorate my room (kind of vintage style)?

i love shopping at thrift/antique stores but i dont want to spend too much money. also i want to buy stuff that can go in my room at home and also in my dorm room at college. thoughts on how to decorate it. i also want to simpify the big stuff in my room and have cute little stuff. one of my ideas was to take an antique bird cage and string christmas lights through it. and then take an old window frame with glass in it and put a picture of landscape in the inside of it and put it on my wall so it looks like its looking outside even though my room is n the basement and i only have a small window. and i take lots of pictures and i would like to showcase those too. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32503876@N04/
