Okay, i have a 2007 harley davidson 883 sportster, it has 750 miles on it. I still have about 5k left to pay on it, but i want to get another type of bike. Is it possible to transfer the ownership and payments to someone else, and if so, how much should i ask up front? I live in south texas, and ive seen same year harleys go for about 8k. im currently paying 150 a month.
well i want to get a duc 848

I have dealt with the guys at Corpus Christi HD.... Are they not willing to deal on the "not lose a dollar " plan they were running? They should be able to give you every dollar in trade-in and let you upgrade to a Softail or one of the other big twins....the new XR1200 is probably right up your alley. Give them a shout...

YOU sell the bike YOU and the buyer go to the bank. The buyer gives you the money, hopefully enough to pay off the bike (if not you need to come up with the rest to pay it off). Then the bank gives the new owner something called I think a "letter of perfection of a loan" (or loan satisfaction? something like that), the new owner takes this and the signed-off title to the DMV to apply for the new title.

If you just want someone else to assume the loan with NO actual sale, I'd call the bank. You will hear people snickering in the background. But typically you just need to worry about selling it for what you owe on it.
You could also ask what you can get for it on trade for the new toy you want.
