Want to play with an old S60 phone

I've always been curious about the S60 OS, I've only used S40 up until now. I've been considering getting an old S60 to play with, like a 3620 or even an N-Gage. I'm on Cingular by the way, so 850MHz would be necessary. I'm hoping I can score one of these for $60 or less on ebay. But before I take the plunge and buy an old phone, are there any other recommendations for my situation? Also, what are some of the main differences between a v2 S60 vs a v3? Would it be worth it to get an older v2 just to play with?

It's certainly worth it! Find yourself a 6620 on eBay somewhere and give it a shot. It probably won't be under $60, but it'll certainly be worth it!

I think the old 3650 are v1 if such a thing exists. That may be pushing it. That phone is mecca old.

There are pros and cons to v2 versus v3. I'd say v2 is unique in that the application library is enourmous for it, whereas v3 has the latest and greatest features. So, you win and lose either way.

I vote 6620 as a starter. It has hella ram so you can have several applications open at the same time, which is one of the many pluses of S60.

any ngages that work on tmobile or is unlocked fine?, was there a better model than any of the other ones? I been wanting to get one just to try it out, never even seen one in person.

when I had the n-gage (both the original and the QD) I had problems loading some S60 v2 titles on them that worked great on the 6260 and other symbian phones. Didn't think they were were that different but that is also a concern about going too old with they Symbian.

This was a bit ago (I think you were still using the N-Gage as the primary because you helped me a metric crap-ton) but Papyrus wouldn't load/run and some other PIM programs wouldn't load.

It was a small number, so I don't think it's a major issue, but it was an issue regardless.
