Okay so this year I am learning to play clarinet because I want to join the marching band. However, some drama happened this past month with a trumpet player (basically he found out I liked him while he has a girlfriend, and when I tried to clear it up with him he never responded..question about this coming up soon). I also have a feeling that a lot of the band either doesn't like me or thinks I'm a "band groupie" and I feel like if I join next year then everyone is going to think I'm joining to get with the trumpet player or to be closer friends with everyone. In reality, while both of those reasons are great, I want to join marching band because I want to be more involved with music and learn more about different aspects of music. I know a lot about choir and a bit about orchestra, but not much about band. Should I not join marching band because of possible social issues or should I just follow my passion and go for it?
