Hey! I've been thinking of getting into photography because I really have fun taking pictures :) and I want to get a camera that I can start w/ like an SLR camera :) What's a good camera that's an SLR? What are some good accessories that I should use? What can I do to improve my picture taking?

Ok I know this isn't answering your question exactly but since an SLR camera is a big purchase I want to give you some advice. I thought the same exact thing. I LOVE taking pictures and thought an SLR camera was what I needed to go to the next level. But SLR cameras are a huge step up and are very expensive (you have to buy lenses separately) and they're bulky. I talked to my parents and also my great uncle who is an award-winning photographer about getting one, and, long story short, I got a Canon Powershot SX10IS which is not an SLR. It is an amazing camera with lots of features but doesn't require you to have to change lenses. It isn't a cheap little point and shoot but it's not an SLR either. Look up the model on Amazon.com and just check it out. It takes great photos. You can still take great pictures without an SLR. I actually just won 1st place in a statewide contest out of 39 other participants using photos from this camera and last year I got 5th place (using an inexpensive point and shoot Kodak Easyshare). Just as a piece of encouragement: the judge of the contest and my uncle both told me that no matter the camera, it's the vision, the creativity,..the eye of the photographer that makes the photography he shoots great.

well it depends if u want a camera thats gona last pretty long or if u want to start with a pretty good camera for a while then when u feel u r ready u can just a more advanced one later on [personally i would suggest getting one that will last u for a long time]
u could get a canon rebel if its gona be temporary
ooor u could get something like a nikon D90 thats probably gonna last for a long time

there will be times when u r gona need a stand in terms of controling lighting and stuff [be sure to read the manual about that]
to be honest it mostly depends what types of photos u r going to take cause thats also gona depend on the types of lenses that u r gona hav to use unless u just wanna use the lenses that the camera comes with but otherwise u should ask for the body and a specific lense in which u r interested in.

on improving your photography for that u either have to keep practicing that is if u know how to handle the camera [eg. apeture, ISO shutter etc..]. If not then u r gona hav to take classes at school. if you are not in school then u could either look around where u live and find a class ooor u could go though online classes
