Want to change the muffler sound of my Honda Rebel 250?

I want to make my honda rebel 250 sound more like a chopper. The mufflers that are on it make the thing so quiet, most scooters can be heard more easily. So, if a car can't hear you (and motorcycles are already hard enough to be seen as it is), it makes it that much more dangerous to be on a bike. I've got a metal cutting blade that can handle this job pretty easily, and just chop the muffler off the end. Maybe give it a tappered look at the same time. I hear that the bike could have issues running when I do that though? There's supposed to be a certain amount of resistance to the exhaust exiting the combustion chamber? If I can't just cut off the muffler for a more manly sounding bike, what are the other changes I'd have to change to get the honda rebel 250 to sound better?

well if you go to straight pipe you will need a jet change i would think,it would make the bike run lean.
its a 250, it wont be overly loud no matter what you do

a 250 isnt gonna sound much better than a fart in a beer can if you get rid of the baffles. But if you insist simply drill them out. Then go to a bike shop and buy a set and cut them in half before installing. This way you will still have backpressure and it wont lean out.

You gotta be kidding,... thats like putting lipstick and a dress on a pig.
The only way to make the Rebel sound better would be trade it in for a 500....

You will never get a 250 rebel to sound loud or mean or even much better. It is a small inline 2 cylinder engine. I can't even remember if any aftermarket company sells a slip on for it.

As for noise coming from the exhaust-it exits from the rear./ the bike has to be very loud to be heard coming down the street (another words for the sound to be in front of the bike) or in an area where there are lots of buildings and enclosed spaces for the sound to vibrate off of.

You need backpressure in your exhaust. If it was me, I would recommend drilling about 3 holes in the end of the exhaust and no more. SPace them evenly around the exhaust outlet . that is about as loud as that engine is gonna let you get, and trust me it ain't gonna be loud, mean or sound much more than a fart in a tin can.
