Want a ducati

What's the rush to get rid of your Honda? I have friends who have ridden (and raced) Hawks for years. In the canyons or on the track, I'm hard pressed to keep up with them.jD

Well your smart enought to ask, so your probably smart enough to behave on a faster bike.

Get the 848 and enjoy............just behave! And don't get a 1098.

Well, its a bit of a wild horse.............I've been riding for twenty ++ years and "woopie hold on doggie."

He can well behave on the beast but still have the horsies, if not the breaks......jump out and bite him.

I learned on a 550Gpz and still found my sell in the dummy zone, had the bike been a 1000, that may have been in the dead zone.

An 848 may not be the smartest choice for a starter but if he's mature it'll give him more room to grow. If he doesn't kill himself.

A 1000cc motor is just ask'n for trouble as a first bike.

Definitely thrash the Honda around for now. Getting a superbike when you're a newbie to the sport would only slow your learning curve. I'd say at least a year (figuring you've put in enough seat time, say 10K miles) and then consider it. Don't be thinking those miles should mainly be put on in the straights is ok, instead it should be in the twisties; because thats where things get hairy and you should know how to properly take evasive maneuvers.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the responses. The honda I am riding is not mine its my neighbors. He is just letting me ride it to learn on and then I am giving it back. I really dont want to buy one of those after I give it back. My buddy just bought a 08 cbr 600 today so I am pumped to get my ducati. I will give it about till july till i get one. I Think !!!???

hey dschuh i just sold my honda vtr 250 after 6 months and bought a MS2R1000. i agree with LaRossa - a monster is perfect as the first big bike. at the moment i think i'll hold this one for a while.

dschuh,

I'd learned how to ride on a Vespa 150sprint in high school for 2 years. I was a mod at the time. Once I get the hang of it, I'd purchased a GSXR 750. unfortunately, it was stolen at a mall. The insurance replaced it. A year later, it was stolen again. The point is, start slow and take your time. Because it's not you. It's the other drivers. Ride safely. Here is a similar picture. Except mine had passing lights and antennas.
