dream on. All intellectual data proves that this is a regressive system which favors the rich over the middle class and the poor. A progressive system shifts more of the tax burden on the more affluent and lightens the proportional load of the less wealthy.
Adam Smith the founder of capitalism favored the progressive tax system. He believed that it was totally just and fair that the rich carry a heavier load tax wise. why? He gave a story about it..He likened society to being like a toll bridge and that since the rich actually get the most benefit from the toll bridge called society, it is only right that they pay the most tolls. How is that for a stick in the eye.
I do have a question for you though. What is the main objective that you would like to accomplish by having a fair tax? Please be sure to explain clearly what the main motivation that drives those who call for it, and especially the part about what part of the spectrum they are lower class, middle, class, upper middle class or upper class?
A rebate does not make it progressive. Taking money away from someone who needs it now to pay their mortgage or healthcare or groceries and gas....for them to wait to get a check later from govt sounds like a pyramid scam to me...at least thats what we call stunts like that around here. How about this idea, dont take the money in the first place and that will eliminate the need for a rebate. lol
The problem with you conservatives especially the pseudo intellectual convervatives is that you tend to ignore the feelings of human beings..you view life as though it was a math problem. Sure send all the manufacturing jobs overseas becasue its more efficient for us to ignoore that mundane tedious work and concentrate on more intellectual work..sounds fine..except for the part where families are ruined when mom and dad are laid off and their jobs go to mexico and china and they lose their homes to foreclosures...oh thats ok they will adjust and retrain to be computer programs..which sounds fine until HB1 visa workers are imported cause they get paid half of what americans make.
Thats right...I am your worst debating nightmare..an informed american who follows politics and the economy.
