I think homophobia is one subject, out of any, that will get my blood boiling, because what people do to each other over this is just so incomprehensible. It's... I can't even put it into words, how enraged it makes me.
And even when people don't consider themselves homophobic, there is still such a heavy usage of "that's gay" or "you're a fag," and that's putting homosexuality in a negative light even when it isn't intentional. Or calling people homos. Which doesn't make any sense, considering homo means same. I mean, if you're going to use a gay slur against someone, fag/****** makes much more sense.
It's something that I just cannot talk about with people who disagree with me, because I'll get too emotional and end up screaming at them, or something.
I think the building of the monument would be legal on private property, but the person would probably get prosecuted for a hate crime, or something like that. But they were trying to build it on public property, so they needed a permit. And obviously, anyone with sense isn't going to allow that.
