Walden Farms "Calorie Free" foods?

Jean B. asked Sycophant:

Sycophant herself is both diabetic and overweight. Since she can't eat
"normal" candy she doesn't think her father deserves it either; that's what
she meant by "I still won't offer him something that I would not eat
myself."

Sugar is a problem for my dad too. He is type 2. One of his Drs. told him
to treat sugar as an allergy. Of course he isn't allergic to it. And of
course one can't be allergic to sugar but one can be allergic to something
that sugar is made of like cane or beet.

Anyway... It really messes up his brain. But he seems to be addicted to
it. My mom has gotten him to have one (and only one) sweet per day. One
with sugar that is.

They seem to go through tons of sugar free candies. I tried to point out
that those usually contain just as many carbs and the particular one they
were chowing on at the time (Werthers) contained a sugar alcohol that was a
laxative. Both disputed this vehemently and said I was wrong. Both also
have bad eyes and can't read fine print.

Some time later that night, my mom called with an apology. Said I was
right. Gee, I wonder how she figured this out?

I disagree.

An allergy is defined as; "A damaging immune response by the body to a
substance".

Sugar, in many people can cause great bodily harm and even death as a
result of their body not tolerating the substance. Their body is
unable to cast off or cope with the substance naturally.

I'd say that fits as an allergy. Not a traditional allergy in that the
immune system isn't the major response, but its involved.

You may wish to research "sugar and histamine response"

There is tons of evidence that supports the link between them.

Does this apply to all sugars? If so, then the person having problems with
them would have to eat only meat and maybe some eggs. There is natural
sugar in all fruits, vegetables, grains and even milk.

I'm sure there are people who are so reactive to sugar that they can't
eat any. I haven't heard of anyone like that, but odds are there are.
