When I look on the outside it says Smartmedia.... is that right, or do I check somewhere else? Sorry, I'm a noob to this.
My computer is an Acer Aspire E380 Running Windows Vista.
Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it!

I don't know how to say.....
if you can access Control Panel->System->Device Manager
check is your card reader there
I don't think Vista needs extra driver for your card reader
do you have XP machine? try it
if the reader still doesn't show up, it's dead

Hi there,
Just got my new phone yesterday to find out that it's not compatible with Vista. It sucks. So now I'm trying to transfer music to the card. I have the adapter (not sure what it's called) and a card reader on my computer. Anyone know how to do this?
I have tried putting the card in the reader but nothing pops up, and when I gho to "my computer" there is no drive there to add music to. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The reason I got the phone was for the walkman feature. *sigh*
I'd greatly appreciate ANY help at all. Thanks!

No, I don't have an Xp machine, I wish I still did. This computer's about a month old, so I hope the reader's not broken. When I went to the device manager there was a lot of jargon I had no idea what was what. There was nothing that looked like a card reader though. I appreciate your help.

you need a card reader that supports m2, at least you need a card adaptor
open Windows Explorer (Win + E), and you can transfer files there

check USB controllers part
USB mass storage should show there
you can ask somebody else who has XP machine to test out your reader
good luck

Under USB controllers I have the following.....
USB Root Hub
USB composite device
Standard Open HCD USB host controller
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB host controller
I checked them all and they said they were working correctly and drivers were up to date.
Unfortunately my card reader is built into the computer so using a machine with XP is out of the question.

My card reader does support m2. I have the adaptor to put the little card in.
I can't seem to find windows explorer... I even did a search for it. Thanks for the help. Any other advice?

Huh...try using other memory cards on the reader to see if it's working.
If the other cards work, try reinserting the M2 card a couple of times.
Or try using the card reader on another person's PC, like greenblood stated.
Like greenblood pointed out, it might be a defective card reader, IDK.

A few times you might just need to format the memory card. You can do so through your W300i. Just go to menu, File Manager, press the right soft key for 'more', then select format memory stick. After that your PC might recognize the card.

I think it might be toast. I won't read my SD card from my camera either. That really sucks. Thanks for all your help everyone!

oops!
I forgot you use Vista
go to My Computer (sorry, none of my computers has Vista)

Well, at least you know that there's nothing wrong with your PC or M2 card. Perhaps you can get a refund or replacement for the defective card reader. However, maybe next time it would be safer to stick with a known brand. I always use SanDisk, and that has never let me down.

Thanks for the help. I reformatted the card but still nothing. After I pop it into the card reader should I be doing something? I have tried to right click on the music I want to transfer, but it doesn't show my M2 card anywhere as an option. I've also gone to "my computer" and the card is not listed. Any ideas?

LOL funny! I have gone to my computer and my M2 card is not listed there... Just my C and D drive and my DVD drive are listed there.

if you have a photo printer, that can opt as another card reader assuming you the adapter that take the m2 card and also the photo printer has the card reader built-in

Your card reader, did you install the drivers so that your PC can detect it as a USB Mass Storade Device? I'm guessing you're using one of those all-in-one or 8-in-1 card readers. Some of those need to have the software installed first before it can be used to read memory cards. That might help you.

Hmmm... no I didn't install a driver. I did however do an online search to see if I could find one, but I didn't find anything. You're correct, it is a 9 in 1 card reader. It won't recognize my SD card either. thanks for the advice, I'll keep looking.

Unfortunately this is yet another reason why there is no intelligent reason to use Windows Vista.
